Museum of History and the Future – Turku

City of Turku organized an international architecture competition for the Museum of History and the Future from Sept 2023 to Jan 2024. The museum is located in the developing harbor area of Turku, right next to Aura River and Turku Castle. The granular mass of our proposal respects the scale of the surrounding wooden buildings, but the brave monolithic facades anchor it to the atmosphere of the harbor. The village-like composition is at its tallest near the other public buildings of the harbor, and the scale of the modules shrinks towards the park and gives space to the Castle. The steel facade transforms to a warm, wooden interior, where the elongated hall connects adjacent functions. The interior rhythm meanders through the spaces, weakening the border between indoors and outdoors. Upstairs, the exhibition halls connect to each other from their corners, allowing them to be connected or divided depending on the needs of the exhibition.

We wanted to examine the potential of AI and generative images in architecture through our proposal. The perspective images of our proposal were created using various AI platforms and tools.
